What it is

A federal program for Canadians who don't have access to employer or private dental insurance and whose household income falls under the eligibility threshold. It's the largest driver of new patients accessing dental care in rural Ontario.

Who qualifies

  • Filed Canadian taxes as a resident
  • No access to employer or private dental insurance
  • Household income under $90,000 per year

Federal Program

Interim Federal Health Program

IFHP

We Accept IFHP

What it is

The Interim Federal Health Program provides temporary health coverage — including dental — for refugees, refugee claimants, protected persons, and certain other newcomers to Canada. It is administered by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and billed through Medavie Blue Cross.

  • Immigration detainees

What to bring

Your IRCC eligibility document — this may be an Acknowledgement of Claim (AoC) letter, a Refugee Protection Claimant Document (RPCD), or a Refugee Protection Identification Document (RPID).

Dental coverage includes

  • Pain relief and infection treatment
  • Dental injury treatment
